The seaside promenades represent an unusual tourist attraction, attracting thousands of tourists every year.

These are ideal places for a lazy walk, roller skating, scooter or bicycle, as well as for a moment of relaxation on a bench with a book. Along the promenades you will find numerous cafes where you can drink coffee and eat something sweet. In Poland we have several unique seaside promenades that are worth visiting. In this article we will look at two of them.

Sea Whispers Promenade in Kolobrzeg

Where is the longest promenade by the sea? The longest promenade on the Baltic Sea can be boasted of Kolobrzeg. The Sea Whispers Promenade here has a length of about 4 kilometers. Hotel Unitral is about half an hour by car from Kolobrzeg.

The walk on Szymański Boulevard, the first part of the longest seaside promenade in Poland, begins at the historic lighthouse in Kołobrzeg. Then one passes the Monument to the Nuptials to the Sea and reaches the beautiful pier.

The pier in Kołobrzeg, a reinforced concrete structure located in the Spa District, was opened in 1971. It has a length of 220 meters, a width of 9 meters, and the walking pier is 4.5 meters above sea level. At the end of the pier there is a marina for small cruise ships. In 2014, the pier underwent a general renovation, during which light illumination was installed, among others. The first pier in Kołobrzeg, wooden and T-shaped, was built in 1881 at the Strandschloß sanatorium. It was about 100 metres long and was a haven for small sailing ships, but was destroyed during World War II.

The second part of the longest promenade on the Baltic Sea starts from the intersection of Mickiewicza and Rodziewiczówny streets and ends right at the border of the Eastern Ekopark. The Sea Whispers Promenade runs along the beach, so you can enjoy picturesque sea views. In the vicinity of the pedestrian street there is a park named after Stefan Żeromski, which in summer offers pleasant shade and protection from the heat. Near the lighthouse, there are numerous souvenir stands and pavilions with eateries, where you can eat fresh Baltic fish or drink afternoon coffee.

Friendship Promenade in Mielno

Equally attractive is the Friendship Promenade in Mielno. It was established as early as 1908. It originally had a protective function, designed to strengthen the shore and secure it from the devastating effects of the waves. Over time, it became a popular tourist walking destination, connecting Mielno and Unieście.

The Friendship Promenade was initially called Polish-Soviet Friendship. In the 1980s, a powerful storm destroyed the boardwalk, tearing it in half. The revitalization of this place ended in 2018, after which the promenade in Mielno became one of the most beautiful seaside promenades in Poland. Today, it measures almost 3 kilometers in length and is an important element integrating the entire city of Mielno, enabling a walk from the center to Unieście.

The promenade is fully illuminated and has plaques promoting attractions of the commune of Mielno. In its course there are also chess pieces with large playing figures, which are an additional attraction. Walking along the promenade, you can enjoy picturesque views of the sea and the city, relax on benches or enjoy numerous dining outlets. The most beautiful promenades on the Baltic Sea are very popular among tourists. This is also the case with Mielno.
